An astronaut named Jeff was sent as a part of the Lacuna corporation's Junket program to explore a distant planet. During his flight his ship crashed on a mysterious planet. He must fight his way through hordes of robots, building new weapons from the scrap metal left behind to be able to repair his ship and return to Earth.

This has got a solid foundation for a Wave/Horde shooter. All it needs now is to add some additional complexity in the Enemies and Environments and you'd be good to go. Your on the right track.
